My freshman year of college, I was chatting with a guy at a party. I had met him a couple months earlier, and I had a huge crush on him. At this point, he already knew that I have Alopecia, because I had talked to a mutual friend about it in front of him. At one point, he had to reach over me, so I ducked down. As he was bringing his arm back over me, it caught the underside of my ponytail and knocked my wig off onto the floor! I quickly scooped it up and put it back on. I tried to play it off like it was no big deal, but he had no clue how to react. He started stammering and going on about how sorry he was and that women don’t need hair to be beautiful. I’m pretty sure he was more embarrassed than I was! The best part of that story? We ended up dating for the next 3 years!
