Step 3
By Anita B., Canada.

by Admin, 12th September 2016

EDITOR’S NOTE: In recognition of 2016’s Alopecia Awareness Month, we are publishing every few days a new installment of Anita B’s very personal story, from the shock of first discovering she had Alopecia, through the life changes and mental journey to Acceptance & rediscovered Happiness.   Anita B. wears, by choice, a Joli Dancer™ by Joli Caméléon™.   After wearing many other well-known wigs designed for Alopecians, and actually being a sales rep for one of those companies for a while, she tried a Joli Dancer™ hair creation and liked it so much that she purchased another one 6 months later, all with her own money.  Only after this did Anita take on the independent role of a Joli Caméléon Brand Champion.  If this story resonates with you, we welcome guest bloggers and would love to hear your thoughts on the 10 phases Anita went through.

3) Denial

I’m not going to lose all my hair. When I was diagnosed with Alopecia Areata, I found the news hard to accept. I tried to learn all that I could about the disease and came to the conclusion that it’s unpredictable, and that so far there is no cure. It was difficult for me to comprehend that my immune system could suddenly attack my hair without some other part of our body being affected. But this is what happened. As the spots increased in size and numbers, I was warned that I could lose all my hair. Out of desperation, I started looking into alternative treatments. I saw a naturopath, and acupuncturist, and had Reiki treatments. I changed my diet, cutting out gluten and every possible allergen. I did everything I could to reduce my stress levels. I tried using a different shampoo. I was not going to let my hair fall out!
